The Tamba

In 1959, Helcio designed his own drum set called the TAMBA. With this instrument, he could add more colors and textures to his music. The TAMBA is normally played with brushes or mallets. The sound is soft, almost symphonic in nature. He called his instrument the TAMBA because it is the name of an African rhythm, but mostly because it sounds like samba, which is the mother of all Brazilian music.

Helcio has created a new TAMBA, which will be on the market in mid 2007. Please return to this page for more details.
